Special concert for Members and Friends of the Donostiarra CHOIR

IMCOINSA has renewed its sponsorship commitment with the DONOSTIARRA CHOIR during 2022

Aware of the importance for our community of preserving our culture and our artistic activity, IMCOINSA has renewed its commitment to collaborate with the DONOSTIARRA CHOIR, as part of its social commitment.

The choir is celebrating its anniversary this year: 125 years of uninterrupted choral activity, passion for music and professional dedication despite its amateur spirit.

The latest musical event of the group was the annual Concert for Friends and Members of the Donostiarra Choir held on Thursday 15th December at the Kursaal in San Sebastián.

The choir was accompanied by the Symphony Orchestra of Euskadi, directed by Sainz Alfaro, with the collaboration of Jon Urdapilleta on the piano.

The almost two-hour concert included compositions of Beethoven (Choral Fantasy), Poulenc (Gloria), Strauss (Blue Danube), Tomás Aragües (Christmas Suite) and it ended with "Bi maitasun Kanta" by Gonzalez-Iturritza.

Founded in 1897, the Donostiarra Choir combines its long history with the prestige of being considered the most important choral group in Spain and Europe. Its repertoire includes around a hundred symphonic-choral works, more than fifty opera and zarzuela pieces and a large number of folk and polyphonic works.

Despite preserving its initial amateur spirit, the Choir has a professional dedication, with an average of 35 to 40 concerts per year. It regularly participates in the most important music festivals in Spain. The Donostiarra Choir has received numerous decorations and awards, including the Prince of Asturias Award of the Arts in 1984 and the Universal Basque Award in 1997 due to its centenary.
